Fibre Essential

ADSL broadband technology is widely used in residential and small business settings, as it is an affordable and widely available option for accessing the internet. However, the actual speed and reliability of the connection can vary based on factors such as the distance between the user’s premises and the telephone exchange, the quality of the copper telephone lines, and the number of users sharing the same line.

  • Speeds up to 18Mb Download, 1Mb Upload
  • Analogue line is included
  • Uses traditional copper lines

This product will no longer be available in the UK from September 2023,an alternative SoTAP product is set to replace it, more on that to come soon.

Fibre Standard

SoGEA broadband is a relatively new offering that has been made possible by the development of the Openreach fibre network. It is designed to offer a simpler and more cost-effective broadband solution for customers who do not require a phone line. SoGEA broadband can provide high-speed internet access, typically ranging from 35Mbps to 80Mbps, dependant on your distance from the exchange.

SoGEA is replacing FTTC as BT push to remove analogue lines from their portfolio ahead of the 2025 switch off. Typical SoGEA is cheaper as it doesn’t require a traditional analogue line.

  • Speeds up to 80Mb Download, 20Mb Upload
  • No analogue line required
  • Relies on traditional copper wiring

This product is regarded as a stop gap to Full Fibre Broadband as its Fibre to the Cabinet and copper to the Premises. This product is covered by our Future Fibre Promise, meaning that when Full Fibre Products are available in your area, we will allow you to upgrade. A new contract will need to be signed at this point.

Fibre Platinum

Full Fibre Broadband, also known as Fibre to the Premises (FTTP), is a type of broadband internet connection that delivers data using fibre-optic cables directly to the user’s premises, such as a home or business, without relying on any copper cables. This means that the entire connection, from the internet service provider to the user, is carried by fibre-optic cables, which can provide much faster and more reliable speeds than traditional copper-based connections.

With full fibre broadband, users can enjoy internet speeds of up to 1 Gigabit per second (Gbps) over the BT network, which is significantly faster than most other types of broadband connections. This allows for faster downloads, smoother streaming of high-quality video content, and better online experiences.

Full fibre broadband is becoming increasingly popular and available in many areas, although it may not be available in all locations. It is typically more expensive than other types of broadband connections, but many users find the increased speed and reliability worth the investment.

  • Speeds up to 1000Mb Download, 330Mb Upload
  • No analogue line required
  • Fibre direct to the premises
  • Lower contention
  • Quicker fix times

BT’s aim for its FTTP (Fibre to the Premises) rollout is to provide ultrafast and reliable broadband services to as many homes and businesses across the UK as possible. The company has set a target of reaching 25 million premises with FTTP by the end of 2026.

BT’s FTTP rollout is also part of the UK government’s plans to improve the country’s digital infrastructure and ensure that everyone has access to high-speed internet services. The government has set a target of providing gigabit-capable broadband to every home and business in the UK by the end of 2025, and BT’s FTTP rollout is a key part of this plan.

Fibre Ultra

Fibre Ultra is our ‘Rolls Royce’ Fibre to the Premises product, it’s typically achieved with the use of an ‘altnet’ (alternative network) broadband partner.

Alternative network broadband providers build and operate their own network infrastructure to provide broadband services to customers. Unlike traditional broadband providers, which typically rely on the Openreach network (or similar networks in other countries) to deliver their services, altnet providers build their own fibre optic networks, wireless networks, or a combination of both.

Altnet providers have become increasingly popular in recent years, as they offer an alternative to the dominant broadband providers and can often provide faster and more reliable broadband services. Altnet providers typically focus on areas that are underserved by the major broadband providers, such as rural areas or areas with poor network coverage.

  • Speeds up to 1000Mb upload and download
  • No analogue line required
  • Fibre direct to the premises
  • Lower contention than Mainstream Providers
  • Synchronous speeds
  • Quicker fix times
